Anniversary in a Treehouse

Since the inception of Wine Carolinas started with a glass of Tack Shack Red, it was an easy choice to celebrate our one year anniversary at Treehouse Vineyards, located in Monroe, NC.

The first vines were planted in 2004 on a family-owned and operated 35-acre farm that was 200 years old. Since opening to the public in 2010, Treehouse Vineyards now has eight varieties of muscadines and several award-winning wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and a long list of Muscadine blends.

We’ve had the opportunity to visit Treehouse Vineyards a few times with family, friends, and children and have enjoyed every experience. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of space to explore. Sip and swing under the trees. Bring a blanket and pack a picnic lunch or enjoy lunch at any of the tables provided. During our visit this weekend, there were quite a few groups—an engagement party, a baby shower, several families—and we didn’t feel like the space was overcrowded at all.

After a relaxing picnic, our family of six strolled through the vineyard to the two overnight Treehouse Rentals as a little adventure. Prepped with water for the kids and wine for the adults, the walk was beautiful. Our kids enjoyed finding and watching geese, birds, and horses.

Our first pause was at Papa’s Dream House, with fantastic views across the vineyard and pond. The kids wanted to explore the house, but we took in the scenery and continued on with our exploring.

Our second stop was at Horsefeathers Hideaway, which is their largest, most spacious treehouse and can fit 2–8 guests. We were able to enjoy the 400+ square foot deck, surrounded by trees and nature. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a bottle of Treehouse wine. We all enjoyed the peacefulness of the trickling creek while rocking in chairs and the hammock swing. We couldn’t visit long, however, because we had an hour reservation in the final treehouse, which happens to be the first treehouse built on the property—Date Night.

Accommodating up to six adults, Date Night Treehouse is nestled 30 feet in the air, boasting stunning views of the vineyard. While taking in the views, we enjoyed snacks and beverages—Sunset Hill WinoRitas for the adults. The quality time with our family was priceless with fun discussions and people watching. We even witnessed a sweet proposal take place in the vineyard.

Even though Treehouse Vineyards already has so many wonderful amenities, they also provide a fun-filled calendar with a wide variety of events. You name it, they probably have it: dinners, murder mysteries, trivia, painting, DIY crafts, comedians, music, and 5Ks. It’s obvious that Treehouse enjoys supporting and entertaining their community. We had the privilege of volunteering during the 2017 Bailey’s Trail Run, which is a 5K, raising money for the Isabella Santos Foundation. If you can make time to volunteer at a local winery, please do it. We had such a wonderful time, supporting a great cause.
